Exploring Helichrysum

Are you familiar with this amazing oil? It’s FREE this month with a 300PV Essential Rewards order and I am loving it so much!

Let’s start at the root. (bad joke?) There are over 600 different species of the Helichrysum plant. However, this post focuses specifically on the genus species  Helichrysum italicum which is used to make Young Living’s Helichrysum Essential Oil. The plant is native to the Mediterranean region and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. One of the more interesting historical references I read online mentioned that Helichrysum flowers were dried and used as offerings to Greek Gods.

The flowers from the Helichrysum plant are often referred to as “everlasting” or “immortal” because of their restorative benefits. The fragrance of this oil is uplifting to the subconcious and promotes clarity.

Gary Young said, “If he had to choose only one essential oil for the rest of his life he would choose Helichrysum.” The best and most dramatic story I read online was when his son Jacob fell and was bleeding profusely. Gary dumped an entire bottle of Helichrysum on to the wound and it stopped the bleeding because of the oil’s blood regulating properties. How amazing! How powerful is that!?
I have been using this amazing oil for the last 6 months and although my story isn’t nearly as intense, I agree with Gary 100%.  If someone told me tomorrow that I only get one oil for the rest of my life I would take Helichrysum. Hands down. I have a history of terrible, no good, VERY BAD cold sores that have destroyed the right side of my top lip. When I’m feeling under the weather I can always tell when one is trying to pop up because my lip will tingle a bit and almost feels like it’s twitching. The last cold sore I had was at the end of June 2016. Coincidentally that happened to be around the time I started using essential oils as a remedy.

I added Helichrysum to my cold sore remedy shortly after that. Whenever I feel that tingling sensation I put 2 drops on my finger and apply it my lip. I have also seen a difference in the scar on my lip, it’s faded tremendously. That makes me one happy oiler with a clear face. 🙂
